For over 40 years, Targus has been a pioneer in the industry, evolving alongside technological advancements and market demands.


In the USA, Targus distributes from the West Coast across the United States.


Q: Can you explain what the current landscape is like for managing your logistics and some of the challenges you face?


A: Managing a vast network of distribution centers and shipments globally presents significant logistical challenges, especially in today's economic environment. 


Targus relies heavily on trusted partners like FPT to handle larger, sensitive shipments. 


The past five years have seen substantial changes, including rising costs and limited carrier availability.


Targus has had to navigate limited carrier availability while continuing to grow, thanks to a surge in demand from remote working and educational institutions.


We are anticipating another surge due to AI advancements, Targus prepares for an uptick in device replacements.




Q: How important is logistics to your business?


A: Logistics is crucial to Targus' success. Our reputation for on-time performance and honest communication has built trust with customers.

Q: How do you manage your shipping requests with your logistics partners?


A: Shipments typically move from Targus' distribution centers directly to destinations, often involving truckloads or near-full loads. 


Requests are generally handled via email, with urgent needs communicated directly to Kevin and his team for immediate action. 


This streamlined process ensures that shipments are managed efficiently and delivered on time.


Q: How has technology impacted your logistics operations?


A: Technology has made a huge difference. Now, we can track and manage supply chain demands easily with modern tools and dashboards. 


All the trucks have tracking so we know if the driver is at a truck stop eating or sleeping or how long they have to get there. It's changed a lot.




Q: When choosing a logistics partner, what key attributes are you looking for?


A: Targus values reliability, accountability, and value over cost. The ability to meet promises and deliver on time is critical.


Price matters, but value is key. Reliability and accountability are crucial because fines and chargebacks can wipe out any savings. 


FPT has been reliable for over 20 years, providing live updates and maintaining open communication, which is vital for us.


Q: Can you share your experience working with the team at FPT?


A: Kevin and his team have been instrumental in supporting Targus during periods of rapid growth and have consistently delivered exceptional service. 


All of a sudden we’d get 5 or 10 containers worth of stuff, and FPT worked nonstop, through the night, to find a solution for us. 


With their vast network and the team’s ability to get things done that other people couldn't was why we have continued to stay with them.
